Memories are often remembered through smell, touch and clothing, so it can be a real dilemma to know what to do when baby grows out of those cute clothes, a child leaves school or you miss a loved one who just isn't there any more.
I use the materials you would otherwise leave in a cupboard or attic so you can create a beautiful family comfort, bear, bunny, unicorn, dragon, dinosaur, horse, cat, fox, dog or elephant sewed together with the memories you shared and the love you treasure.
Typically bears are made out of at least 20 pieces so you can use as many or as few different materials as you like. I personally recommend 4 -8 pieces of adult clothing, 6 -10 pieces for baby clothes, as this gives me the ability to make your family comfort a patchwork of special memories.
My Dad loved ties so 'Gordon Bear' is not only made from the ties he wore but also proudly wears the tie once worn at my sisters wedding as well as other memorable occasions.
When my daughter grew out of her first school uniform I made a bunny adorned by the uniform and now in her 20's she still talks fondly of her time as a child and the friends and memories she made.
I take great pride and am honoured when commissioned to design and create any of the animals. As I build they take on the personality of the loved one they represent ( I do talk to them and say hello!). During our design consultation I do like to gather as much information as I can about the person whose memories I am encapsulating into the family comfort. Each one is unique, hand made and designed with a keen eye on complimentary fabrics, emblems and features from the materials.
Here's what one client said about my work.
"I couldn't believe that such a beautiful bear could be made from the jacket of my late husband. Sandi listened to my story, understood that I wanted enough bears for each of the grandchildren and when I collected them to take them to their 'forever home' each of the bears had an individual representation of their grandad. Mine wears a waistcoat made out of the suite from our diamond wedding anniversary and I talk to him every day".
It's no problem for us to chat through some ideas and create a wish list that you can commission at a later date or if you decide to go ahead I'm happy for you to spread the cost over 3, 6 or 9 months. You can book a call with me online or send a contact request and we can take it from there with no obligation to buy.
